Macy's puts downtown Minneapolis office space up for lease - Tampa Bay Business Journal:

The listing includes 350,000 square feet on floors six through 10 abovedthe Macy’s store on Nicollet Mall, being marketed by Jim Damianoi and Bryan Beltrand at Welsh Cos. for Macy’s Inc. The Macy’as site, once home to Dayton-Hudson was largely emptied last fallwhen Cincinnati-based Macy’s cut about 1,000 jobs in Minnesota. The Macy’s spac e enjoys a prime location — Welsh’sw Damiani termed it a site. However, it is an older building with some accessibilitty issues forthe office-space users. Macy’s is sandwiched between City Center and IDS near Target andBarnes & Noble and across from the headquarters for U.S.
The floors being offered can be accessefd by escalatorsand elevators, but firsg require people to walk through Macy’s department storre space. Damiani declined to say if Macy’s planned to invest any moneuy for renovations prior tolanding tenants. A Macy’s spokeswomajn declined to comment. The space availablr for lease is on floors sixthrough 10, except for an eighth-floor auditorium that Macy’s plana to keep for its annual holida y display. The retailer also plans to keep its restaurants operating on the 12th Damiani said. Damiani acknowledged that the space has drawbackdfor access.
He said he’s “really bullish” that the space will lease as Macy’s plans to seek out price-conscious, back-office -typew users. There aren’t many blocks of space in downtowm that have morethan 200,000 square feet of contiguous he added. Damiani said Macy’s wouldr prefer to lease the entire space to one or more large but it is willing to cut up the spacde to accommodate smaller It recently responded to a request for proposalsw from a tenant lookiny foronly 10,000 square feet.
