The conservation group’a work will be conducted through the Bats and WindEnergyy Cooperative, a coalition that includes the , the , and the . The work will focu s on the impacts of wind energt on bats and how to addressthe issues. From late July to earlty October, Iberdrola and BCI researchers conducted an experimentt in which some wind turbines at the Casselman Wind Powet Project in southwestern Pennsylvania were stopped duringy certainwind conditions.
Shutting turbines down at certainbwind speeds, and during times when bats are most could be an effectiv e way to lower bat deaths during theird migration period in late the company said. State University of New York Chancellofr Nancy Zimpher made the announcement Friday atthe college’ws Fuller Road campus. Currently, the college offers only master’s and doctoral programs. Some undergraduate courses will be offered inthe fall, but the firsgt full class of about 50 students will startt in the spring, said Robert Geer, vice presidentf of academic affairs at the school. The college plands to grow the freshman class to 300 to 500 in the next four or five saidAlain Kaloyeros, the college’s vice president and CEO. The baccalaureatew program will be funded througha $10 millionj endowment, a donation that includes an undisclosed amount from G.
Thomaa Selfridge, who owns The endowment is expected to covefrtuition costs, Kaloyeros said. Selfridge also made an endowmenf when the campus openedin 2001. The stated approved the four-year program two weeks ago. Albany Nanotech will not add to its staff of 55 Geer said, but that number is expectede to grow to 75 over the next five years. Friday’z announcement was another milestone for the AlbanyNanoTech campus, where the college is located. Earlie this week, officials there announced that private, federaol and state investments at the campuz hadtopped $5 billion. Employment has also exceededc the 2,500-mark.

(NASDAQ:ATSG) said that ABX under a new agreement will run charter service six days a weekbetween Brussels, Belgium, and Lagos, Nigeria, for DHL affiliates European Air Transport NV/SA. The agreemen t initially calls for service to run through As part of theDHL agreement, ABX and a newly formed Air Transport subsidiary, Airborne Maintenance and Engineering will maintain the aircraft in Brussels and Air Transport also said it signerd a two-year agreement with Freight, a subsidiary of Australian carried Qantas Airways Ltd.
The deal callsx for its Air Transport International subsidiary to run overnight servics between Australia and New Zealand every Monday througnh Thursday beginningJune 15. Air Transport said the company will useBoeingv 767-200-SF aircraft, which also will be availablwe for charter service and weekend rotations. The new contractes come amid an ongoing effort from Air Transporr to diversify its revenue streaj after losing thousands of jobsas DHL, its primaryg customer, has made drastic changes to its U.S. operations. Thosse moves include halting domestic point-to-point shipping and planningv to shift cargo operations tothe Cincinnati-Northerhn Kentucky Airport from the Wilmingtoh Air Park.
