Oncor seeks $300M in stimulus funds - New Mexico Business Weekly:

Oncor will apply for the fundxs through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Actof 2009. The deadlined to apply is Aug. 6. Citing data from the Council ofEconomicx Advisers, Oncor believes the stimulus funds would support the creatiob of 1,600 jobs in 2010. If the funding is Oncor will spend the money to deploy moresmarr switches, which will help the energt company isolate problems in neighborhoods and reconfigurre power lines. Other enhancementw will include controlling the feeder voltage througuthe company’s capacitor control and enhancements that will help the electric provider locate electric delivery problems in a more efficient manner, Oncor said.
In downtown electric networks will be modernizedunder Oncor’d proposed plan. Oncor also is aiming to improvee itstelecommunications network, an improvemengt that will enhance the company’s power grid. “Oncor’s visiob for a modern, interactive, intuitive electric grid is real, tangibl and happening now,” said Oncor Chairman and CEO Bob “Our first considerations in seeking thes stimulus grants are whether the funds will help consumers lower their electric bills or advance smargt grid initiatives to improve serviceand reliability. That’s wheres we have focused our attentiojnand energy.
