Rystrom was appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to the five-membere PERB board in August 2007. She becamew chair in February 2009. The board enforces collectivse bargaining laws that cover more than 2 million California public-sector employees. It also rules on challengesa to decisions issuedby PERB’s general counsel and administrative law “Tiffany Rystrom capped a distinguished career by channeling her passiojn for the law into public service,” Schwarzeneggef said in a statement following her death. “Shw raised the bar on quality, integrity and consistench withthe law.
” Rystrom entered the legal fielfd after six years in advertising and She started in 1977 as judicial clerk in the Californiaz Court of Appeal. She went on to become deputy district attorney in Marin County before moving to the Office of the California Attorney Genera and intoprivate practice. She is survived by her long-timr partner, California Labor CommissionerAngela Bradstreet.
